What Causes Excessive Menstrual Bleeding?

Hello,
I had a ParaGard placed about a month ago. Yesterday I thought I had started my normal menstrual cycle, but I had a more blood clots than normal. I did not think anything of it until this evening my IUD fell out. I am filling a regular size pad about every hour. Do I need to go to the nearest ER or does that happen sometimes with some bleeding?

Hi,

I understand that you are having excessive bleeding and also had expulsion of the paragard.

Paragard may cause excessive vaginal bleeding but it is usually self limiting. As it has been expelled wait and watch for one to two hours.

If you continue to bleed heavily, go to the nearest ER. In that case you will need an internal examination, a pregnancy check as well as injections to control bleeding.

Hope I was able to help you. Thanks for using Health Care Magic.
I would be happy to answer any further queries.
Have a nice day.
