Treatment (preventive, supportive or surgical) depends on the severity of herniation, whether there is significant compression over the nerves emerging from the spine; and symptoms. If symptoms are mild, a cervical collar can be used; moderate degree of symptoms: a course of steroids in high doses--> if no relief, then surgery is needed. Dr. Rakesh Karanwal
