Hi Rware, yes, any bilateral asymmetry ,especially acquired,is a cause for worry. Many conditions can cause unilateral swelling or oedema like mild anemia, filariasis, unilateral local ankle fracture or sprain(of course, these will also have pain and limitation of movement). Do consult a GP as soon as possible and get thoroughly investigated to reach adefinite diagnosis and hence treatment.
