hello,thanks for ur query, slowing or stopping of heart beat called as fetal distress can be due to infections, ur pregncy more than 42 weeks, associated with high bp, diabetes,toomuch or too less amniotic fluid,more than one baby in womb,ur age more than 35, placenta problems where oxygen supply reduced through umblical cord.can be prevented by regular antinatal visits, early blood tests.
