Suffering From Urinary Retention, Weakened Bladder Muscles. What Is The Possible Cause?
Hi, I am a 30 year-old female, currently suffering with what I believe is urinary retention. I am worried that I have weakened my bladder muscles from holding my urine for long periods of time in the past, making it difficult for me to totally void my bladder. Is this a possible cause? After urination, there is always a small amount left behind and I feel like I need to urinate again. I am trying to do Kegels to strengthen my muscles but would like to know if this is the cause of my symptoms. Many thanks in advance.

A number of diseases of the bladder muscle or the bladder sphincter (valve) can cause urinaruy voiding problems.
I would recommend the following tests to find out the exact cause:
1) Urodynamic study
2) Ultrasound of the kidneys and bladder with a post void scan
