Hi. How do I know if I have hyperhidrosis? I noticed i began sweating through my shirts 2 years ago and I m too embarassed to say anything. I ve been wearing shirts that hide the problem. I m only 14. I m a female too, if that helps. It s ruining my life. Do I just need to lose weight? It been 2 very long, awkward years. :(

Hi,
Thank you for posting your question here, I will try to answer it to the best of my abilities.

Well there are tests to check for this condition -
blood and urine test - to rule out other possible causes of the sweating for example low blood sugar or an overactive thyroid

thermoregulatory sweat test - During this test, your skin is coated with a powder that changes color when it gets wet. The test begins in a room heated to a comfortable temperature, then you enter a heating cabinet that brings your temperature upto 38 C. Most people who have hyperhidrosis make the powder turn purple before they go into the heating cabinet.

So go to your nearest hospital or call them up and ask them if they can run these tests to confirm the diagnosis.
If you do indeed have this condition, then they can start treatment for it. They will usually start by prescribing antipresspirant pills.

I hope this answered your question.
