What Is The Treatment For Swollen Lymph Glands?

My son, who is 28, has had swelling in his neck since the middle of December. The swelling is located just below his jaw line and is not painful. He went on a course of antibiotics with no change. He was then referred to an Ear Nose Throat doctor who had a CT scan and a fine needle biopsy done. The CT showed no blockage of the salivary gland and thus the biopsy was done. This showed no cancer cells but the doctor wants to remove the 2 lymph glands that are swollen. Is this the preferred course of treatment for this condition or should he get another opinion before the removal takes place?
