Hello!
I had gone through your query and understand your concern.

Norco contains a combination of acetaminophen(paracetamol) and hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is an opioid pain medication. An opioid is sometimes called a narcotic.
Acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of hydrocodone.
Norco is used to relieve moderate to severe pain.
Narcotic pain medicine may be habit-forming, even at regular doses.

I don't suggest you to stop using this medicine suddenly after long-term use, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.

Your dad's doctor will tell how to quite using this drug avoiding withdrawal symptoms.

Hope I was able to help you.
Wish good health to your dad.
