Child Taken Antibiotics For Salmonella Food Poisoning. Has Soft, Sticky Stools. What To Do?
my 18 month old had a episode of Salmonella food poisoning 1 month ago and was resolved after antibiotics treatment. However, she has been having soft, sticky stools with 3-4 times frequency per day. We have been giving her soy milk for the past 1 month as she had a short episode of lactose intolerance when she was younger and recovered after 2 weeks. She is active and eating well. The only issue is the change of stool from hard to soft sticky stool. What should we do ?
Thanks for you interest in HCM.As the child is having soft, sticky stools with 3-4 times frequency per day and the child is on soy milk since past 1 month,it may be soy protein intolerence which may be discontinued and routine food as the child is 18 months old may be given.

Child Taken Antibiotics For Salmonella Food Poisoning. Has Soft, Sticky Stools. What To Do?
Hi, By now the infection must behave cleared. However you can get her stool examined for culture and routine and reducing substance. Transient lactose intolerance also should improve in 2-3 weeks time. Give her some extra fluids and easily digestible food for some time . Good luck Dr Uma
