Hi, Thanks for writing in. Your father might have benign enlargement of prostate. Please get ultrasound scan abdomen with post void residue done and then consult the urologist.

doctor1 MD

You can get a couple of basic tests. These include an ultrasound scan of kidneys and urinary bladder with an estimate of Pre and post void residue. You also can get a Uroflowmetry and a complete urine analysis. If these are normal there is unlikely tovne any major issue to worry about. If the scan or the flow pick up a problem, we need to deal with it.

Please give details about why the test was done / do you have any complaint related to prostate or urinary symptoms. How much is the weight / size of the prostate ? What is the post-void-residue on USG after the bladder is emptied? The precautions depend upon the details. http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/UserServlet?page=userProfile#
