It seems like a phlebitis. Superficial phlebitis is rarely serious and frequently responds to pain-killers, stockings, limb elevation and warm compresses. Do not put iv line in it again. Consult physician to rule out Deep vein thrombosis.

it is neurological problem. it requeres consultation with neurologist. what you are informing vein may not be corect. involvment of vein may be phlebitis. in vascular problem also similar symptoms wil occur. prominant veinsoriginate from arm pit to fingerslission can be any where inthe route. it can be obstructive or inflamatory. it ccan be thrombus causing obstruction.

HI, You need to be worried about the problem. It is simple condition known as "phlebitis" which is common after blood withdrawal from vein. It is due to injury by the tip of needle to the vein from inside. You need not to take any treatment of the same and will be alright in next 10-14 days. DO not massage or rub the area.
