Is Phenergan Safe For Infants ?
My baby is 17 weeks old. He has been having chest congestion for the past 10 days. My pediatrician has prescribed Phenergan syrup to be given for 5 days along with Clavam for 3 days. Is Phenergan safe for infants. My baby is healthy otherwise. His birthweight was 2.4 kgs. Now he weighs 5.8 kgs. Please advice.

It contains promethazine which is antihistamine drug. It is not recommended below 2 years of age as it may precipitate respiratory depression.

If your baby has all this with excessive crying than phenargan is helpful because of it's sedative effect,otherwise other better molecule is there for chest congestion.
Antibitics(clavum) is perfect.
