17 Month Old Having Decay Of Tooth, Foul Smell From The Mouth. What Are The Dental Care To Be Followed?

Hello, Im a single mother. I have a 17 month old son. When I take my son to his check ups, I ve asked about when to start brushing their teeth they toldt. me not to worry about it yet. But now i noticed a change in my son. His teeth are coming in and i realized his mouth was starting to smell. His teeth are looking dirty, gums look purplish and his teeth are beginning to look rotten around edges. What can i do in meantime for the pain while i wait to make appointment to get him seen?

Baby bad breath is something that is not strange for infants. It does happen although it occurs sparingly. Usually, baby bad breath occurs during the mornings where the mouth usually is rested. Because it rests, it does not move a lot. Therefore, the bacteria that cause bad breath may infest the mouth and multiply without inhibition. This happens because there is no saliva to protect the mouth from harmful bacteria that is the root of bad breath. If the baby has already developed teeth, it would be advisable to clean the teeth with a soft bristled brush and lightly scrub all the dirt away. In addition to this, it is important to remember to be gentle with your baby at all times so as not to irritate his gums and teeth if he has any.

Hello
Welcome to HCM
Start brushing your baby's teeth with fluoride toothpaste as soon as the first milk tooth breaks through (usually at around six months). It's important to use a fluoride paste as this helps prevent and control tooth decay.Brush your child's teeth for at least two minutes twice a day, once just before bedtime and at least one other time during the day. Encourage them to spit out excess toothpaste but not to rinse with lots of water.
Supervise tooth brushing until your child is seven or eight years old, either by brushing their teeth yourself or, if they brush their own teeth, by watching how they do it.
Consult your dentist for further query.

Take Care

I read our problem,i would like to tell you that regular cleaning of mouth of a baby is neccessary.
You can follow following instructions-
1.Clean the baby's tongue with a musculine cloth.
2.Clean his teeth with ultra soft bristle's tooth brush.
3.On his gum pad you can apply honey twice daily.
4.You can give him ostrocalcium thrice daily for 2-3 years.
Nothing to get worried.
For further more query you can consult a pedodontist.

Hello there...This is a very common complaint from the nursing mothers'. 17 months is too early to handle a brush...its the responsibility of the parents to clean the teeth and gums after their food....if not, the food gets accumulated and bacteria feed over the remnants of food and starts decomposing the food leading to bad breadth and as well spoils the tooth surface....there is something called nursing bottle caries. It surely requires treatment...Dont worry take your child to the dental surgeon...he would take of your child tooth/teeth.

hiii
it would be very early 17th month old kid to handle tooth brush...being his mother it would be your responsibility to provide & maintain his oral hygiene.
since his teeth have started to come, the food debris that get entrapped between his teeth leads to foul smell....it is advised that you should rinse his mouth after every meal, clean his tongue with soft musculine cloth.
maintaining his oral hygiene this way would even prevent early childhood caries known as nursing bottle caries.
