Hi It is given only if mothers milk is completely unavailable.It is usual for mother for initial 1 to 2 weeks with just some light secretion like milk which is colestrum.You should feed your baby with that alone atleast 2 hour intervals which stimulates milk production.Exclusive mothers milk till 4 months is better.You can take asparagus,Fenugreek,oats,milk etc to increase milk production.
