Hi, diabetes reduces the immune system ability to fight infection in many ways. This predisposes patients to urinary tract infections. The opposite is not true though. A urinary tract infection doesn't mean the patient has diabetes (in females). In males such infections signify the need to check for urinary stones AND diabetes.
