Hi dear.Thanks for your query. Metformin is safe drug.It normally does not cause hypoglycemia when taken in recommended doses.Yes 2000mg is the maximum recommended dose and has to be taken in 2 divided doses-1000 mg each.If you have taken all of it once watch for hypoglycemia.Take sugar, cream biscuits, sweets with you in case you feel tired.Consult your doctor if it doesnt help.Reply with thanks.
