Hi, Thanks for writing in. Surgery is indicated in MVP or mitral valve prolapse when the heart cannot sustain the ejection fraction of left ventricle. This happens when the pumping action of heart becomes lesser than the force required to transmit a acceptable volume of blood.

You don't state what the 65% is in context to- is it an echocardiogram? If so, 65% could be the ejection fraction, which is the percent of blood ejected from the left ventricle when the heart beats. This is a normal reading, indicating that systolic heart failure is not present. Can't say much more as you don't provide enough information. Report back here with specific test results if necessary.
