Hi, It could be due to pelvic inflammation. I would suggest you visit a gynecologist for clinical examination and blood tests ,ultrasound scan. meantime you can take pain killers.

TSS would be more severe. you could be having mild infection due to the retained tampon. it is better to consult a gynecologist for internal examination and ultrasound. take care.
