Heavy Bleeding With Prolapsed Uterus. Have Von Willebrand Disease, History Of Having D&C, On Medication For RA. Is This An Emergency?

My wife had surgery about 9 weeks ago, D&C, with no polyp noted, despite a scan that indicated otherwise. She has Von Willibrands, and is taking meds for RA. She has been bleeding heavily to the point of hemorraging, and it builds-up and then stops for :40 mins, then releases again. The uterus is pro-lapsed. No cancer has been noted. Is this an emergengy due to the type and condition of the bleeding, & should we call an ambulance?

Hi,

Von Willebrand is a bleeding disorder. Delayed bleeding after surgical procedure is common in this condition. Heavy bleeding should be considered as serious and you should take her to hospital as she may require desmopressin or transfusion therapy depending upon blood tests.

hello there!
Proplapsed uterus can wait but the issue of deranged bleeding profile with a history of bleeding diathesis is really an issue here and we need to sort that out. your wife needs an admission and fresh frozen plasma with von vwillebrand factor to help. Proplapsed uterus can be repositioned later . but main issue is stopping the bleed. I wonder how did you get the time to write the query here on the site. Its almost 911 kid.

Cheers
S Khan
