What Causes Air Embolism?
Question: I am freaking out. I just had sex in the bath (basically underwater) while I'm on my period and now I'm worried about the potential of an air embolism. Do I need to seek medical attention?

Thank you that is very reassuring. The only other thing, is that I read online (which is putting ideas in my head) that air or water can be pushed into the uterus area (or around there) and move into the blood stream at anytime (up to two weeks after). Is this a possibility. If this isn't something to worry about then my mind will be put fully at ease. Thank you so much for your help.

I strongly suggest that you spend less time on the Internet. If humans evolved so that sex in a tub or pool of water can produce serious adverse events the population would've died out by now. There really is almost no downside. You will be fine. You have an intact immune system and other defenses. Your body can handle your being moderately adventurous. I strongly suggest you spend a bit more time with your partner and less time on the Internet. Have fun.
