Experiencing Hemoptysis With Cough. Feeling Of Breathless And Stinging Pain In Chest. Tests Report Normal.
Hi , I have been experiencing hemoptysis for about one month with cough (for 2 months), only that cough has reduced in intensity and no. of times. The blood last week came every day , particularly in morning. I have undergone CT scan by my doctor and chest ray as well....both came normal. Doctor gave me an inhaler(foracort) and many medicines including antibiotics in the beginning. The blood session is horrible to find in the morning. The amount varies from a small streak to 1/4th teaspoonful. I also sometimes feel breathless and stinging pain in chest (position varies from left to right)

There are many causes for haemoptysis. But at times cause for haemoptysis cannot be established even after detail investigations. You may undergo bronchoscopy which may help to identify the source and site of bleeding. You may be suffering from a small patch of broncheactasis which may not have been caught by a routine CT scan. You may undergo a HRCT after some time. In HRCT films are taken at every 1 mm which can better identify a portion of diseased lung.

sir u need to have a bronchoscopy and if any mass detectected u need to have a biopsy even mucosal biopsy may be helpful
sometimes a small intraluminal growth or an endobronchial tuberculosis not revealing on ct scan can cause these symptoms...which ll be revealed on bronchoscopy
again u have to exclude other causes of haemoptysis
for that i mgiving u a panel of investigation....
1. platelet count
2. BT,CT, P time
3. c-ANCA
4. echocardiography
5. need to have an ENT consultation for exclusion of ent causes
but i would suggest these test only to be done if bronchoscopy is negative
though harrison wright one third of the cases of hemoptysis remain undiagnosed

Haemoptysis with normal CT scan chest may be due to any of the followings
Endobrochial lesions
Arterio venous malformation
High blood pressure
Bleeding disorders
For that check ur BP
Consult a Pulmonologist and do following investigations
BT, CT, APTT, PT
CT Angiography to rule out any AV malfomations
Fiberoptic Bronchoscopy to rule out any endobronchial lesions
At last hemoptysis can be idiopathic ie without any cause.
Dont worry doctors are there to treat ur problem.
