What Is The Cause For Ear Pain After A Rotator Cuff Injury?

My 95 year old mother fell in her bedroom, hitting the carpet on her right side. She hit her hear pretty hard on right side and face and eye very swollen. Dr. took xrays of shoulder and arm and no broken bones. He checked her eyes and all OK. That was six weeks ago. She complains of ear aches on which ever side she tries to sleep on during the night. She has no ear pain except on the side which is against the pillow.

Could she have had a concussion? She is more tired than usual during the day but of course isn't sleeping very well due to ear aches and arm pain (having therapy for that - rotator cuff injury, we are told). What is causing the alternating ear pain when lying on each side?

Thank you for your help.

Hi. There looks to be no inter-relation between a rotator cuff injury and the ear pains. There is also no probable cause directly related to the fall , as she fell on one side. I would like to suggest you to take her to an ENT Specialist who on examination can tell what is the real problem. The most probable cause may be inflammation of he pinna which is causing this atypical pain.
