Am Pregnant. Told Baby Has Cystic Hygroma, Fetal Hydrops. But Continuing With It. Having Brown Discharge, Cramping. Miscarriage?

I am 39 years old and 15 weeks pregnant- At 12 weeks i was told by two high risk specialist that my baby has a cystic hygroma, fetal hydrops, raskitis( spelling is incorrect I am certain - neck fused backwards in a 34 degree angle) and missing right side of the brain. chromosomal testing came back negtive for down's syndrome and trismy 13,18 & 21. I have chosen to continue with the pregnancy and let God's will be done, but last week I started bleeding quite profusely and made a trip to the emergency room where I was thoroughly examined and told it MIT have just been a ruptured cyst and that the pregnancy was as it should be- with the exception of the babies condition. Now a week later I continue to have dark brown discharge and cramping. Should I be concerned with a miscarriage?

Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.

I am terribly sorry about your situation. I am fairly certain that your fetus will not survive, but it is completely uncertain when this will occur. Certainly any woman who is pregnant with bleeding should be evaluated for a potential miscarriage. This possibility is certainly increased in your situation. You should contact your doctor to schedule a followup ultrasound. It is almost certain that when you miscarry, you will need a D&C. If and when this occurs, make sure that they do it under ultrasound guidance. Again, I am very sorry for you!

I hope that this helps. If you have more questions, please click on "ASK ME A QUESTION" link above to directly ask me a question!
