Hi, Good day. Sleep studies give an assessment of sleep apnea. However, we cant pinpoint the date of onset of sleep apnea. Sometimes, an Echocardiogram may show elevated right sided heart chamber pressures and pulmonary hypertension. AN arterial blood gas analysis also may show carbon dioxide retention. These are hints that the sleep apnea may be long standing.
