What Medication Is Suggested For Diabetes Mellitus Type 2?

Hello Dr. I was diagnosed as DM Type II in 1993. For the first few years, diet and exercise were my treatment regimen. By 2009, my weight had increased (250 lbs @ 6 0 ), AND A1C results were coming in around 8.0 (CDN). Insulin was introduced. Since then, I m down to 213 lbs (my eventual target is 185). I take 5 units (Humalog) at breakfast & lunch and 9 units at dinner. I take 10 units (levemir) at bedtime. My calorie intake is approx. 2100 per day. This spring, I increased exercise through cycling. I think I need to make some adjustments in my regimen. THe meal before exercise, I reduce the dosage by 50%, and hope for a BG greater than 5.5 otherwise, I supplement with a snack. I test after 30 mins to ensure BG still 5.5. I have had some hypoglycemic events, so am looking for the tweaking tips needed to maintain safe BG and avoiding hypos. Suggestions, please. Thanks.
