Is Rapid Breathing And Pulse Rate Being 100 In A Child After Taking Delsym For Cold And Cough Normal?

My 5 year old son is sick with a cold and bad cough. I gave him some Delsym a few hours ago... His cough is better & he went on to sleep. He seems to be breathing a little more rapidly than normal & his pulse rate is 100. (I have one of the things you can test on your finger)
Is this normal?

Hi....I just checked the net. Delsym contains dextromethorphan which is well known to cause fast heart rate...but if he's breathing faster than normal....it could be a sign of pneumonia or wheezing. Kindly take him to emergency room. Happy to help anytime.
