Humming And Ringing In The Ear. Crackling Noise From The Ear. Tinnitus Symptoms?

I have humming and ringing in my right ear. It has been going on for 6 weeks. I have had my ears syringed so there is no wax. I have had my ear examined to see if there is any infection or mucus behind the ear drum and this was not evident from the examination. When I burp there is a crackling noise inside my right ear. That and the tinnitus are the only symptoms.

Hi, thanks for asking in Healthcare Magic.
The humming and ringing sound (tinnitus) in your right ear may due to Eustachian tubal block. Eustachian tube is the connecting tube between throat (pharynx) and the middle ear. This maintains the middle ear pressure to that of atmospheric pressure.
There are many causes for tinnitus like ear wax, middle and inner ear problems.
Negative pressure in the Eustachian tube also causes tinnitus. The crackling noise you hear when you burp is due to the tubal block.
Tubal block usually occurs if there is sinus infection. You have to rule out sinusitis.
Valsalva manouvre (blowing against pursed lips with pinched nostrils) relieves tubal block. Sometimes tubal block may persist without any causative factor.
Regards. Hope this helps.
