Tubular Adenoma
I had a colonoscopy last year and had a 3.5cm polyp removed that was high grade dysplasia. I had another colonoscopy last week and now they want to do a colon resection. The surgeon said that it was a 3cm tubular adenoma in the same location as before. He said they did not remove it during the colonoscopy because of irregular margins. What does that mean?

It means that the high grade dysplasia of the polyp had already spread to the mucosa of the colon and now it has presented with tubular adenoma, for which the doctor has advised resection. They cannot do it via coloscopy as the margins are irregular meaning to say that the again some part could remain left behind so it is beeter to do a complete resection.
