Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
The disease you are having is a rare inherited neurological disorder, also known as peroneal muscular atrophy.
There's no cure for your disease. But, the disease generally progresses slowly and the expected length of life isn't shortened by the disorder.
Generally severe pain can be controlled by taking analgesic medications.
Other forms of management includes
* Physical therapy - This helps strengthen and stretch your muscles to prevent muscle tightening and loss.
* Orthopedic supports -These help to maintain mobility and to prevent injury. Leg and ankle braces can provide stability during walking and climbing stairs. Wearing boots may provide additional ankle support.
* Surgery - If foot deformities are severe, corrective foot surgery may help alleviate pain and improve your ability to walk. But surgery can't improve weakness or loss of sensation.
Hope this helps
