I Have An Aneurism In My Pulmonary Artery.

I have an aneurism in my pulmonary artery . The Heart Surgeon said he had never seen one. What to do?? I feel like I have a ticking time bomb in my chest and was told not to worry.

Very strange. My wife was diagnosed with a left pulmonary artery aneurysm on December 14, 2009, almost the same time as you. Same thing - none of the cardiologists had ever seen one. We were sent to Mayo Clinic for a consult. She had another MRI and about a dozen other tests. In the end, they said to come back every 6 months for follow up MRI's to make sure it does not grow. If it grows, they'll develop a surgical procedure for it. Good news is that it is on the low pressure side of the heart, there is less stress on that area.

A second opinion is certainly in order. Maybe not to confirm that you have it but what to do about it. If it is there then you should take steps to keep your blood pressure low and ask them about fluid intake restrictions if there are any. First step is to talk to another doctor and take the CT scans you have with you or have another set shot by the new doc. Hope this helps. Jeff the nurse in Nashville.
