Ativan may reduce anxiety associated with opiate withdrawal, and act as a muscle spasm reducer, so in that sense may be helpful. However, Ativan itself is an addictive drug, and has its own withdrawal symptoms after long term use. If your problem is related to opiate addiction, using it may just be substituting 1 addictive drug for another. Other drugs may help withdrawal. Check with your doctor.
