It is a hormone secreted by normally functioning kidneys, and it in turn, functions to stimulate the bone marrow to produce red blood cells. in people undergoing dialysis, the kidneys are not functioning normally, and do not secrete erythropoetin. Hence these patients suffer from chronic anemia and its complications. That is why Eprex is supplemented. Take care.
