How Is Ovulation Predictor Kit Used?

Question: My question relates to ovulation predictor kits. I am currently 6weeks 5 days pregnant with our second child. We used an OPK to conceive, and I received a positive result on March 12, a negative March 13 and another positive March 14. I am wondering what this means and if there is any chance it could mean I released two eggs and could be pregnant with twins? I have three sets I twins on my moms side of the family (grandmother, great aunt and aunt all had twins.) We go for our first appointment and ultrasound next week so we will know for sure then. In the meantime, I'm just curious about the OPK results, how and why that could happen, and if it could be related at all to a twin pregnancy. Thank you for your thoughts!

Brief Answer: Not indicative of twin pregnancy. Detailed Answer: Hello, Thanks for trusting us with your health concern. The OPK helps you predict when you are about to ovulate. Ovulation usually happens within 12-36 hours after the OPK first turns positive. A positive result usually lasts just one day. The negative result on March 13 can be a false negative. In case the two ova are released these are released on the same day at the same time. It is extremely rare to have two LH surges in the same cycle and have two ova released on two different days.
