Hi, Atrial flutter occurs when the upper chamber of the heart beats very fast. Sometimes up to 300 beats per minute. The lower chamber of the heart will beat slower and be regular. Atrial flutter should be investigated by your doctor as it usually needs medication to treat. If untreated it can be dangerous as the heart is not beating efficiently. Hope this helps you.
