there is something called strapping practised by our old grand father whenever there is I hurt myself, it used to really work well. He used to tie my hurt finger with the next normal finger for few days. He asked me never to fold my fingers. I think you try that too. But I am not sure if requires something important to be seen by a doctor and take advice. I hope this helps......
I was told by a clinic that my son fractured his thumb in the distal bone section. They gave me his films and told me to take him to an orthopedic doctor tomorrow. Right now he only has a small metal brace on it that will not stay on...will it hurt his thumb if I put some tape around the splint? What is usually done for a fractured thumb?
30 days ago I fell and snap my middle and ring finger they bent back and I fell on them with and my weight . X-rays confirmed distal phalanx fractures on both so went to orthopedic and he put splints on and said will do more X-rays in 2 weeks . So had new X-rays and he showed me a small bone chip laying next to the bone and said they looked worse than the 1st X-rays or I m just a slow healer.. That being said I have a lot of pain still and numbness in my finger tips and fingers swell when I take the splint off .. I m so over it please help !
I have a avulsion fracture (inside tendon, flexor pollicis longus) of the distal phalynx of my left thumb. I have splinted and immobilized the thumb with a fibeglass quick cast. How long should I expect recovery time and is there any risk to continuing activity?
