suffering from Lichen plasus pigmentosus. Is this hereditary ?

Hello sir I am suffering from Lichen plasus pigmentosus.My mom is also suffering from the same disease. I want to known that is it because of heredity that I am suffering the same??? Also my dermatologist has told me to avoid sunlight. Sunlight is the cause of this disease???

hello neha,
it will take time for it to go. Hydroquinone coupled with vit. A tablets are used ti treat the condition.
LPP is most common on sun-exposed areas such as the face, neck, and flexural folds including the axilla,inguinal ,submammary areas.so avoid sun light.its cause still unknown.but sunlight aggrevate it.

hi, my name is swapnil i was using MELLACARE which contain hydroquinone and mometasone,and a good sunscreen lotion too. Hi Doc,Since using 4% hydroquinone,I have burnt my skin and this had resulted in a black scar/patches.Although, this scar has healed, the dark patches from the burns remain.It has been a year now but the dark scars remain and are quite visible (It makes me look old). My dermatologist has prescribed a formula to treat hyperpigmentation on my chin area only to be applied at night in winter - 4 months in a year. It contains hydroquinone, retin A, elocon and ascorbic acid. Is this safe to use and would there be any side effects if I stop using this formula?
