My Wife Has A Large Goose Egg Just Below The Kneecap And It S Very Painful

My wife fell tonite on the stairs and now has a large goose egg just below the kneecap and it s very painful. Other leg has smaller bump. She has taken (2) Aleve gelcaps about two hours ago and has been icing both legs also. She s otherwise in good health, she s 65 yrs old. Is an Xray in order NOW? or can that wait to see if the bump goes down in a day or so. Same question should she see a physician ASAP or can it wait to see if the bump/swelling goes down? Also, what else can we do? OTC medicine? Continue to ice? Thanks.

hi well come to hcm.
If she has no restriction as far as daily activity other than pain you can very well wait.
Give her some analgesic with anti inflammatory action drug like ibuprofen,diclogesic-
provided she is not allergic to it.Continue applying ice.Itching may be due to allerrgy
to drug you have taken can give some antiallergic like cetrizineIf no response ie if
bumps donot go down consult your Doctor. Thanks
