My daughter-in-law in the 28th week of her pregnancy. She had a scan today and the doctor said that he detects a slight edema on the forehead of the baby and the fetus weighs 1;650 kg. He has doubled his weight since the previous scan 4 weeks ago. There is also a scale of 13 of water in the placenta sac. He wants her to do a whole load of blood tests, consult with a genetic doctor and do a heart echo on the baby. Does this mean that we have to be greatly concerned?

My daughter is 31 years old and has a history of alcoholism. She has had some major life changes in the last year and is improving. She is now working part time and at about the same time she started her job she developed abdominal issues... bloating to her stomach/upper and area (firmness to stomach), slight edema to her ankles (she is not overweight at all), frequent bowel movements, nausea. I am an RN (her mom) and think part is stress related but her stomach this last few days actually feels firm... the ankle edema is minimal. I am wondering about IBS? She has a a dr apt this Wednesday..
