My guy has hx of hypertension and is on 10mg of altace once a day. His diastolic is always high. He atw a Shrawma (Indian food) and his b/p went to 167/107 and a high pulse. The systemic came down to 135/98 pulse at 91 the next day by noon. He said he drank a lot of water and voided all night, but had a headache most of the night. I am concerned regarding the high diastolic and do not understand why it stayed so high and still is and how dangerous is this and how does it affect the heart and danger there...Also next time it happens what should he do. I suggested he shoud be on ASA 81 mg daily and should take a 325 mg ASA and eat/drink a food that is a direurtic. Also why is potassium so VIP for him to take and should he be on tablets..Sherre

I bought an Omron blood pressure monitor have just taken my first blood pressure reading. Then nine more readings as I was quite shocked by the readings. Five readings off each arm. Systolic ranged from 97 to 101. mostly 98 and 99. Diastolic ranged from 58 to 65. mostly 62 and 63. They seem awfully low. I wanted to ensure I didn t have high blood pressure but now find its lower than normal which I m told is around 120/80. I vaguely remember having it check years ago by a GP and I think he said something like 120 or 130 over 70 or 80. He died a few years back, so there is no way I can confirm that. Could this be a problem? Why so low? Comments?

Our 31 year son has thoracic back issues. He is an addict, alcoholic and liar. He has been through rehab twice. At age 14 and again in his early 20 s. He is on MS contin prescribed by a pain doctor in Austin, TX. We just read the web information on MSContin and believe he should not be prescribed this medication as an addict. He is also a patient with MHMR. We believe he needs a dual diagnosis. Mental and Substance Abuse. Are there rehab centers that work with patients with no insurance with a dual diagnosis? He does not have a job. He got his TXDL back yesterday after a 180 day suspension for DUI. He still has not gone before the judge due to lawyer extensions. His biological father paid an attorney $2500 to represent him in court. The lawyer keeps putting extensions due to his schedule. The first court date was December. The second date was January and has now been pushed to February. We are concerned that his mentally ability combined with substance abuse (even though legally prescribed) keeps him from functioning. Do we stand to the side and watch the fall? Do we attempt to find a dual diagnosis treatment facility and try and get him on the new health care system (Obama Care)? We see the gravity of the situation and need guidance. If you can discuss dual diagnosis treatment facilities and the likelihood of Obama care paying for rehab? Thanks,
