Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i am a 51 year old lady newly diagnosed with diabetus mellitus type 2. it seems i have been diabetic for the past 13 yrs without noticing it with Doctors concetrating on my feeling fatigue and joint pains most of the times which has led to me being diagnosed as connective tissue disease due to B12 deficiency. i am taking mertformin extended release 1000mg twice a day and glimemepiride 4 mg twice a day but my sugar remains high. In the morning it can be as high 19 mmol despite having taken my medications and last snack being at 10pm. Before being diagnosed as diabetic my palms had dark marks and my toes were dark. I am a light skinned person but started to get dark on my face especially on the cheeks and brow. I am allergic to latex. I do not know whether the reaction I was having is latex related as i became very dark under my breasts and arm pits and part of my abdomen and in pant area .I also developed pimples in my vulval area that feel very hard even if big they do not produce any pus and just disappear. These pimples feel very itchy and I scratch on them. I do exercise every morning and evening but the blood sugar is not getting that low. My initial reading for sugar was 28.2 mmol. I try by all means to eat low GI foods. I also have Raynauds and have a type 2 shoulder problem causing me pain and have been getting depomedrol injection for it. Is there any thing I am not doing right?
