hi my due date was on 19th May. doctor suggested

hi my due date was on 19th May. doctor suggested me to take regestrone 5mg for 3 days three times a day. Started on 12th July. Just want to know what is this medicine going to do to me get my periods after a week. Never missed my period before this. kindly advise.

Hello ma'am and welcome.

First of all, pregnancy needs to be ruled out before initiation of this medication. If at all there are chances that you could be pregnant due to sexual contact, etc; then you should first rule out pregnancy.

This medication is a hormonal pill which provides hormonal supply to the body which is normally provided during a normal cycle, once discontinued a withdrawal bleed is triggered which mimics a normal bleed.
