chronic urti, budecort, levolin, with inhalex respules, effect on child

my child is suffering from chronic urti from last two months his paeds has prescribed him budecort.5 bd and levolin.31 bd with inhalex( ambroxol )respules bd i want to ask for how many days he can continue to take steroids is there any effect on growth of child his age is 3 years now and growth is normal

Thanks for writing in.
Steroids affect growth and should not be used long term in children. They have severe side effects include growth retardation, glaucoma, thinning of bones, infections and striae (stretch marks on the skin)
The duration of treatment should be as short as possible. Please take this up with his paediatrician.
