Can I Continue Metformin During Last Month Pregnancy ?

I had some insulin resistance problem for which Doctor prescribed Metformin to conceive faster. No I am pregnant now and this is my 1st month. Should I continue Metformin? How long? is there any side effect or will it harm to my baby?

congratulations for your pregnancy.
metformin is a relatively safe drug. recently number of studies have suggested that it is not associated with any increased risk of birth defects. though as a matter of caution practitioners avoid any tablet in pregnancy which can be done without.
in your case as you are being treated for insulin resistance and not overt diabetes the deicsion to continue or discontinue would be taken by your doctor.
