Normal B.P. 120/80 yours is perfect. The number u want to watch out for is the 2nd one real high or way too low is alarming. Some drug stores have the machines for your own private record it's around there somewhere. That way you can keep track of it on your own, and become your own Dr. re: Blood Pressure and be more at ease. Cause if r Dr. does it u r agitated from waiting, nervous, under stress, & r B.P. will fluctuate, we call that White Collar Syndrome, & he may do it twice cause he knows that too. Happy for you at 18 yr. old B/P diana d

Hello maria;
welcome to HealthcareMagic
The ideal BP of a person according to the books is 120/80 mm Hg so you see your BP of 121/80 is absolutely normal and there is no reason to worry.So your BP is good nothing is bad about it.
Thanks

Hello my name is Kevin, I have had high blood pressure since I was 17,now 55. I hate taking pills, Blood pressure med. is the only one I take . Lotrel 5/10. I would like to not take the pill I m in good health very active and my blood pressure is 120 to 130 over 80 with the pill, does not change much when I stop taking it,it can spike if I eat bad (sodium )which is not often to about 140 over 85. I have been taking readings daily and comparing it to my diet. Seems like my blood pressure is directly rated to my diet. Does this tell you anything, When I go in a sauna for 10 minutes every time my blood pressure drops to 95 over 65 and will stay there and creep up to 110 over 70 through the day,and still be low the next morning

I have high blood pressure and am taking medication for it. At the current time the meds aren t working but my new doctor gave me different BP pills to try. I ve been walking for exercise but he said walking is good for your heart but bad for your blood pressure . I find it hard to believe. I thought exercise was basically good to lower blood pressure. Can someone please clear this up for me? Thanks! I neglected to mention my doctor is a cardiologist.

I recently have been noticing a Low diastolic blood pressure, I am 32? I am a 31 year old male. In excellent shape, 170 lbs 5 11 - I have unexplained hypertention. I have been on 40mgs of accupril for most of 9 years. I recently went to a cardiologist for an annual check up and received a echo and stress test, check for LVH and other cardiac issues. All results were normal. My blood pressure usually reads 125/80 w/ medication but recently I have been seeing lower diastolic pressures 125/65. My doctor added a diuretic to my treatment last year and I have stoped weight lifting which my cardiologist suggested might not be good for a hypertensive. Since then I have been running on average 8- 10 miles a week. Like i said my last cardio echo was perfect,.....could all this cardio and running be lowering my diastolic? If not what could it be if my echo s are clean ?

Dr. Oz, I know you're show is geared mostly towards women but I really am in dyer need of help. I'm a 22 year old male and I'm currently taking two 20mg instant release Adderalls a day. My blood pressure is normal on a daily basis, but high blood pressure and heart disease does run in my family. My concern is in regards to Erectile Disfunction. It is a real self confidence killer! My penis doesn't get fully erect when I'm about to have sex, its hard but not where it can stay up the air hard..excuse the reference. Also some other times it will get hard, but it will not stay that way for long amounts of time. Does anyone know why this could be? I also have trouble staying hard. For example if it slips out, there is a switch of positions,or the slightest distraction, it wont remain hard. I take adderall but don't notice a difference in this when I take it and when I don't. I exercise regularly (4-5x a week) and eat relatively healthy(for a college student). I am stressed a lot and i know that could be a cause of my problems. but does anyone have any ideas? Also is it to early for someone my age (22) to take pills such as viagra or cialis? What are the long term side effects?

I am 74 years old and have experienced hot flushes since menopause (at age 54). I experience moderate to high blood pressure and most medications for this make my symptoms worse. I have heart palpitations during these uncomfortable symptoms, experience fatigue and have night sweats which wake me up. I have Sjoegren's Syndrome with Sicca, and Peripehral neuropathy and most other aging symptoms. I don't have dementia, thankfully, but I am curious as to whether hot flushes are impacting on my blood pressure and contributing to my anxieties or could it be caused by my thyroid? My tests show a normal reading for my thyroid. I also had cancer of the uterus, grade 1, and had everything removed nine years ago and have remained cancer free to date. I hope you can help me find a way to improve the situation as I don't have any blocked arteries or heart problems so it is a mystery to me. I am worried about the impact it may eventually have on my heart. Sincerely yours,

Hello.
I'm male.
I'm 45 years old and I got high pressure blood since 17. I am currently taking 5 drugs to control (not at all) my high pressure blood.
In a recent Renal Angiography was discovered that I have my left kidney hypotrophic with important loss of parenchyma in the middle and lower thirds.
Analyses of plasma renin revealed that is high.

This hypotrophic kidney (left) is working by 37% and 63% right according to a renal scintigraphy.
The recommendation of my doctor(nephrology) is to get me out my hypotrophic kidney to control the high pressure blood and avoid having to take so many drugs.

What is your opinion on this?
