Will Using A Heating Pad On Wrist Best Medication For IV?

I had an IV in hand. Hand was swollen and red on first day after. I applied a heating pad and pain/lump/redness almost immediately went to wrist. Now have heating pad on wrist. Is this normal? I ve had pain and lumps in hand before, but never migrating to wrist.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Dont apply anything. Just elevate your hands by two pillows and that swelling will go in a day or two.

That is just fluid collection following the IV line.
