Will Third Angle Radiation For Breast Cancer Cause Any Consequences?

I am currently receiving the boost segment of radiation therapy for breast cancer. Besides the treatments from left and right as in the regular radiation, there is treatment from a third angle which aims right at me from above and to the right. This scares me as it seems to go right through my body (lung? spine?). Is this typical? Can I request stopping that third angle without dire consequences? Thank you.

Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.

No, you should not be scared. Third angle is even more precise then 2 or one angles since radiation rays are more focused to one spot. This will not have more harmful effect on surrounding tissue compared to other types of irradiation. YOu can always request changes in your treatment options but there is no need to cancel this one I am sure that doctors find the best solution for your case. It is important that tumor cells become sensitive for radiation and some minor bad effect on spine or lungs is not concerning.
