Hi Karen, Welcome to HealthcareMagic Forum.
Nicotine, Drinking and Substance abuse have negative impact on the patients with Manic Depressive Psychosis (MDP), or Bipolar Disorder as we call it. Ibuprofen has no impact unless you become seriously dependent on it. Kindly do not take any medicine without consulting your Doctor, If you have trouble quitting, get a Psychiatrists help. Exercise regularly for an hour daily and Practice relaxation techniques like Yoga and Meditation. Make sleep a priority and get plenty of sleep for 8 hours minimum.

Wish you Good Health, Take Care.
