Will The Pain In Ribs Due To Bulging Cartilage Last For Long?

I have a history of chondrosarcoma. My 15 yr old daughter has rib pain with bulging cartilage that is painful to touch and the pressure prevents her from participating in physical activities. Dr says normal X-rays, says to rest and no running or athletics for now. With my history should She go for second opinion? I'm concerned and don't want to wait too long. How long can this pain be there?

Hi,Dear,Thanks for the query to HCM Virtual Clinic.
From the facts given about your daughter,she seems to have chondritis ? Rickets.As the Xrays are normal,Take rest and Sun Exposure for 30 minutes per day with Vit D3 Calcium supplements from your doctor.
Your history should not make you worried for chondrosarcoma,though you should be careful,which you are.So Don't worry and things will be right in next 2-3 weeks time.The pain would reduce in 4-6 weeks time with above treatment.
Take anti-inflammatory if need be with your doctor's advise.
