Will Taking Overdose Of Xanax Cause Death?

Hello, so I had a question, my husband is on methadone 100 mg and today he ingested a handful of xanax..i don t know the mg or how many he took, but i was wondering if that could cause and overdose or potential death? I have heard that, that kind of mix can be deadly..please help

I can understand your concern.

Yes, it can be fatal.

Taking larger ("handful") doses of Xanax with Methadone together may increase side effects such as excessive drowsiness, confusion, and difficulty concentrating. It can also increase the risk of respiratory depression, profound sedation, coma and death.

In view of the above, I would therefore advise you to take your husband immediately to the ER of the nearest hospital in your locality so that he can evaluated and managed effectively for the possible Xanax over dose.
