Will Sacroiliac Joint Sprain Cause Numbness And Tingling In Calf?

Is it possible for a sacroiliac joint sprain to cause numbness/tingling in the calf and the second toe? This tingling didn t really start until I went to the chiropractor and he adjusted me. The adjustment did someone help with the pain but now my right calf is constantly tingling whenever I sit.

Physical Therapist or Physiotherapist 's  Response
Hello,

As you have been diagnosed with sacroiliac joint dysfunction you need to take up the call of a multi-speciality team approach which includes an orthopedist and a physiotherapist. You may be advised to take the MRI of the Lumbar spine which will help us understand if any nerve root entrapment is present or not. If so then the symptoms you mentioned above about tingling and pain in the calf muscle should be due to the nerve root entrapment.

Usually, in my clinical practice of 12 years, a multi-specialty team approach of orthopedist and physiotherapist has helped the patient regain maximum outcome score.

Exercise plays a crucial role in the sacroiliac joint dysfunction and helps improve the quality of life. Exercises will be guided by a physiotherapist after a team discussion on your case.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
